A new install starts with measuring the actual opening, not trusting the old door's dimensions - on a house built around 1987, the frame has had decades to shift. We pull the old door and track, check the header for rot or settling, and confirm the opener mount is still sound before anything new goes up.
From there we set new track plumb to the current frame, hang the panels, and size the torsion spring to the new door's actual weight - this is the step that gets skipped when a heavier door goes on old hardware, and it's the one that causes the early failures we mentioned above. If you're adding insulation or switching to a belt-drive opener, we wire and balance that as part of the same visit rather than a follow-up trip.
Because we're coming from Richmond, 19 miles out, we schedule the full install - pull, frame check, hang, balance, opener setup - as one appointment. We don't do emergency same-day installs out this far; this is scheduled work, done right once.
